Copper(II) Oxide

Short Description:

  1. ①CAS:1317-38-0
  2. ②HS code:2825500000
③Alternative Name:Copper oxide | Cupric oxide
    ④Chemical Formula:
    CuO

  • Application:

  • As a significant product of copper mining, copper oxide is the starting point for the production of many other copper salts. For example, many wood preservatives are produced from copper oxide. Cupric oxide is used as glass, porcelain colorant, desulfurizer for oil hydrogenating agent, Organic synthesis catalyst, artificial silk manufacturing, gas analysis, etc.

production method

Copper powder oxidation method. Reaction equation:

4Cu+O2→2Cu2O

2Cu2O+2O2→4CuO

CuO+H2SO4→CuSO4+H2O

CuSO4+Fe→FeSO4+Cu↓

2Cu+O2→ 2CuO

Operation method:
Copper powder oxidation method takes copper ash and copper slag as raw materials, which are roasted and heated with gas for preliminary oxidation to remove water and organic impurities in raw materials. The generated primary oxide is cooled naturally, crushed and then subjected to secondary oxidation to obtain crude copper oxide. The crude copper oxide is added into the reactor pre loaded with 1:1 sulfuric acid. Reaction under heating and stirring until the relative density of the liquid is twice the original and the pH value is 2 ~ 3, which is the end point of the reaction and generates copper sulfate solution. After the solution is left to stand for clarification, add iron shavings under the condition of heating and stirring to replace copper, and then wash with hot water until there is no sulfate and iron. After centrifugation, drying, oxidizing and roasting at 450 ℃ for 8h, cooling, crushing to 100 mesh, and then oxidizing in an oxidation furnace to prepare copper oxide powder.
